| Hi Guys,
My husky bella is 2.5 years old now, she was raised in the house with myself and my family (mother brother and father) she stayed in that house for about good two years. I was the one who raised her mostly and spent the time with her. I moved out in April with my wife to a new house and my mother started looking after her, and i pick her up after work from 6pm and keep her at my house till 11pm intailly she used to not want to go inside the house once i return her and would stay outside waiting. after a month she got used to the routine and started sticking to my mother 24/7 and would be perfect once i drop her back to my parents house.
My mother went on a vacation about a week ago, and since the first day my mother traveled, she would not enter the house from the garden day 1 they had to force her in the house for her to come in. Day 2 became worse, she started sleeping in bathroom of my parents bedroom and doesn't leave the bathroom. now everyday when I drop her back off she is terrified to enter the house! she starts pulling me and refusing to go in. once she's in the house she runs up to the bathroom and sleep there all day long and doesn't leave. from what i can tell she is very very scared to leave the bathroom and she stays there all the time. No one had hit her/ harmed her or anything in the house. my brother and father actually always looked after her, fed her, played with her etc..
Basically when she goes to my parents house when moms is on her vacation now, she is terrified to enter, and she runs directly to the bathroom and spends all her time there, around 2-3am she jumps in bed next to dad and sleeps next to him.. goes on her morning walk then back to the bathroom.
Can someone help me understand whats going on with my dog? how can I treat this? is she suffering? i cant let her sleep at my house just yet as i leave for work in the morning and there's no1 to take care of her if she's alone in the house..
your help is appreciated. |

| Huskies are very routine oriented. Once that routine changes it takes a while to build a new one and wrap their head around it. You know this from when you moved out and had to get her used to that new routine. By being on vacation does that mean that your mom is completely gone away somewhere else? For how long? When a pack member "goes missing" dogs can become very confused. They will search for them or even mourn their loss depending on how bonded they were with the person. When I went off to college our hunting dog (which was actually my dad's dog) would apparently wander all around the house and then finally sleep in my mom's sewing room most of the time which was a room right next to my bedroom. It took a few months for that to stop and for us to build a new routine of me being gone all week and then coming home on the weekends. As long as she is still eating and your mom will eventually come back I wouldn't worry too much about it unless she starts having destructive behaviors. Mix things up a bit for her and take her somewhere new to walk maybe or go out for a treat that she doesn't usually get. _________________ |

| First and foremost thank you for your reply. Mom will be back in 4 days, she just went on vacation for a week.she did stay outside the house the first night in the garden area roaming around. And she doesn’t eat once she’s at my parents house. She just locks herself in the bathroom.no destructive behavior. More of deppresed won’t eat won’t plat locks herself in the bathroom. Wife picked her up early today to our house and she’s a different dog when she’s with me or my wife... mom will be back by Sunday or Monday. I dunno if I should send her back to my parents house if mom isn’t around. |

| Sounds like she is a lot happier staying with you and your wife!!
Could she stay with you, and if you could adjust your working hours for a few days so that she has less time alone in your house?
My dog moped a lot when I went out of town...he refused to go on his usual walks and would only grudgingly leave the house when his bladder was exploding. They do really miss "their Person"... |

| Ya, she’s sitting with me and my wife since yesterday now, won’t take her back to parents house until mom is back. Don’t want her to suffer. I dunno if this is separation anxiety or what it is.. |
