Alright. I was knitting and had a question pop in my head... How do I keep Baby, my Husky, from zoning out and going into Zombie mode whenever she sees a cat? Also, how do I ensure that she won't jump the fence? I know that providing a happy and positive environment will help to prevent fence jumping, but is there anything else I can do? I don't want to have to make the fence taller to keep her in the yard.

No. Right now, she is still on a leash until she learns the boundaries of the property. But from what I have seen and read, I'm a little paranoid about letting her off the leash just yet with all the dumb cats we have around here.

I'd think about running an ecollar and electric fence. No personal experience but other here use the "inground" fence running it as the top strand on a fence.

Mine have never jumped the fence and its only 50 inches high, mine i worry about digging. Before the issues with squirt they did knock down a section of fence and attack the neighbors red heeler. But it only happened once and we put braces on the fence. Mine will kill anything in the fence and i view it as thier right to protect their territory.

Thanks for the idea, @Aljones. I already have a remote-controlled e-collar on all of our dogs. I try very hard NOT to use the electric function but prefer to use the vibrate function. It's most effective on my Shar-Pei. Baby is stubborn at the moment. She fights through the vibrate function. She's only a year old and I'm trying not to traumatize her with the electric function, but I am starting to feel as though I might need to use it from time to time anyway. Being my normally abrupt curmudgeon - would it be better to train her with a (hopefully) few shocks or have her learn on the front bumper of a car?  As you're probably learning Huskies ar quick - a matter of centuries of training and breeding - and all too often even the best of drivers can't stop when one runs out in front of them.
If you set it up right, use the flags and teach them using the vibrate that the flags are "out of bounds" and then let the fence reinforce that with some light shocks.  Hopefully you never have to get beyond that.  It's a learning curve on both sides but hopefully it shouldn't be traumatic.

And, invisible fence (I prefer the wired version over wireless for more stable, predictable boundary). Used at the BOTTOM of the fence, the dog gets first a warning, than a correction to not approach the fence prevents digging, climbing and jumping.

Coyote rollers prevents climbing, maybe jumping if high enough.

I use bother the mini educator ecollar and a Petsafe Yardmax inground invisible fence. My wire is a combination of buried, ziptied to neighbor's pasture fence and just layed on the ground through the woods. The zip ties we're applied only because the neighbors cows were chompng on the wire as they stick their heads under the fence to get the "grass is greener" breakfast

Really funny wolfdog story. I trained my wolfdog roeh to the electric fence to keep him from chasing my neighbors horses. He figured out the boundaries very quicky. He also figured out that if he layed for a few hours every day where it would beep and not vibrate or shock him that in a week the battery was dead and he could leave again.

Im considering one at the moment again because chasing spider down the irrigation ditch in waist deep snow this am was not fun. And then when she realized splinter didnt follow she turned around and ran to the door and i came in completely covered in snow about 5 minutes behind her.

LOL, @lostmaniac. I haven't had the luxury of chasing my dog through waist-high snow yet, but I do get it. I use to run in the snow just to run in it.

Also, @amymeme, I like the idea of putting the wire down on the base of the fence instead of on top of it.

In regards to Coyote Rollers, I love that idea. But my Bishop and I were just talking about that idea and he pointed out that some, as rare as it could be, some dogs can jump like 6 feet in the air to get over a fence. So, now, I'm thinking about using the coyote rollers to keep dogs out and then the electric fencing wire to keep Baby inside the yard.

Its very rare for a dog to jump inside a random fence. Im not sure where you live that ot would happen. Where i live people dont believe in fences or leashes or chains, sometimes groups of dogs (like 15-20) run around and neither us or anyone else has had issues with dogs jumping into someones yard. There is an issue of a certain wolf that opens gates and thats how most of the dogs end up loose but loose dogs are legal as long as they dont attack livestock. No fence or leash laws here.
