Need HELP with puppy diet Empty
PostSubject: Need HELP with puppy diet   Need HELP with puppy diet EmptyThu Jun 08, 2023 7:13 pm

Groo is 6 weeks old and weighs approx 3.3 Kilograms which is about 7.3 pounds.

I am currently feeding him dry food, Royal Canin Starter 1-2 Months. He doesn't have any meal plan because I don't have any knowledge about how much or how little he should be eating therefore his bowl is always kept full.

I've searched on a lot of sites answers to help me understand how to give him a healthy diet at every month until he becomes an adult but I can't seem to find a solution.

Would you guys please help me?

Six weeks is too young to be away from his mother and litter mates. There is a lot of important learning that happens regarding bite inhibition, general social behavior that puppies get from each other and mom. Any possibility the little guy can go back with Mom for a few more weeks?

As for puppy nutrition, I'm not really knowledgeable other than you want a puppy formula and what on the bag. I do believe at that age, feeding is 3-4 times a day. I think 4 but I'm not certain.

Unfortunately the breeder wasn't able to hold my bud a little longer. I'm currently trying my best to take care of him and teach him about biting and socialising but as a new owner it's a little tricky.
I am keen to learn more about huskies

Yes, multiple small feedings a day is useful. He should be eating approximately 3/4 cup day. I would look to swap to a puppy food that is cleaner. Royal Canin is a corn heavy food. Puppy foods have a higher fat and phosphorus ratio than standard foods so it is important to stick with a puppy specific formula. I would also consider adding in a puppy wet food for the time being. Some pups will struggle to get adequate moisture as they make the transition off milk and have to start making their own decisions on drinking from a water bowl.
