2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Dima and I live in a sunny area, and since it is summer, and our temperatures go up over a hundred, I think it is best I seek advice.. After reading a bit, I was just wondering if anyone has a suggestion as what sunblock to use on him. He is a very active boy, so it would just kill him if he couldn't drag me out in the blazing sun to go on a 30 -45 minute walk every two seconds ( much like he conned me into going out during a winter storm at midnight...spoiled rotten dog).

I'd be careful about sunscreen unless your sure none of the chemicals in it aren't harmful to dogs in any way.

I would never use human sunscreen, but I know there are companies that make sunscreen for dogs, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.

i have never used sun screen on mine, they don't like to be out when its to hot and while hiking the backpacks cover the tops of their backs. if you find a dog grade SS give it a try and see if it works and let us all know Smile

I wouldn't be out walking Dima during the heat of the day when the sun is out. I think your best bet would be to do any and all walking in the early morning or evening when the sun is not out and the temps are cooler. In that kind of heat she shouldn't be spending enough time out in the sun to even need protection from a sunburn. Sure she can go out and play as much as she wants during the day but I wouldn't be doing structured walks.

Maybe use a swamp cooler or cooling vest which has become a hot topic as of late? A link to the thread on it: Ruff Wear Swamp Cooler

Ice on Ice coat conditioner says it has sunscreen in it to help protect the coat.

Koda sunbathed in 100+ degree weather in AZ- he would refuse to stay inside o I had him wear a shirt to keep him from burning his chest since it's light and has thin hair. With whit dogs though, be careful in the sun as they're prone to getting cancer from it.

Has anyone used the Natural Dog Snout Soother? Max really needs this. His nose sunburns easily. I use baby sunscreen as per vets orders but it still dries out and peels.
