So we took Dante to get neutered today at our SPCA's clinic. I get a phone call about 20 minutes before we are supposed to go pick him up saying that he has "bleeders" and they want to keep him overnight and check on him again in the morning....I have NO idea what she meant by "bleeders" and I was honestly too taken aback by it to ask but I did a little research and I'm assuming its intra-scrotal bleeding. She said it's just a precaution, and nothing to worry about and that if it wasn't better tomorrow they would go back in but honestly I'm kinda freaking out. Has anyone else had experience with this after their dog's neuter?

I've never had a male dog, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help. Is there going to be staff at the clinic overnight? I'm sure he will be fine, but totally understand why you are freaking out, I would be too! You both will be in my thoughts.

I do believe there will be someone watching him overnight, and the vet will come back in in the morning and check on him. That dog is like my child and this is the first night he has spent away from us since we got him. Spoiled little snot goes everywhere with us lol.

Sounds like they did the neuter fast. That's why I only take my pets to a vet's office for spays and neuters, they don't have a massive amount of patients to get done in one day. He'll be okay Smile I'd do a follow-up at your normal vet to check it out though.

Good luck dear. During the summer we got Delilah spayed and took every precaution and I was still a nervous wreck. If you are still worried tomorrow make an appointment for your vet. Its worth it.

ARGH! I wish they would call me already. I'm going nuts waiting. The woman said she would call in the morning. ITS MORNING!!! i thought I'd just go over there and see what's up, and maybe visit him, but they don't open until 1 pm.....If someone doesn't call me until this afternoon, I'm going to go crazy. I want to know that my baby is ok Crying or Very sad

If I were you, I would just go. I may be considered and impatient b*tch, but when it comes to my furbabies you just don't mess around.

Come to find out, he was cryptorchid.I had a suspicion that he might have been but they confirmed it when I went in and demanded to see my dog Embarassed They had kept him overnight because he was under longer than normal because of the complication which is NOT the reason I was told last night. Oh well, he is doing fine, and it's a lesson learned for me. Next time, I'll just take him to the normal vet.

Glad he is back home in ur care, I learned as well the "cheaper" route is not always the best when it comes to our "kids"

We've always done the clinics. Cryptorchid neuters are always a little more involved. Glad he's home and ok Smile

I'm just a little upset that he came home with a tick on him. one, that we have found so far. and everything is like...cherry red. I don't see any discharge but I'm just praying it doesn't get infected.

If you are concerned, a trip to the vet to get him looked at will definitely put your mind at ease. Ticks always creep me out bounce ; I'd have him checked for the tick diseases as well, just to make sure there was no transmission.
