Snow just went to the vet last week and was checked for fleas and has none. But she is scratching a lot more than should be O.o Any suggestions? She has only been bathed once and that was when she was first brought home.

One of my Chihuahuas is scratching a lot more the last couple months too, no fleas on her either. I know in the past that the high heat and humidity in the summer makes my dogs a bit itchier than usual. At least that's been the case here with my dogs.

We have been having the same issue with our little dogs. No fleas on them either, but I did notice that rubbing the coconut oil in the spots that they itch the most. You may have to part the hair and really find the spots, but Coconut oil really help. I give mine alittle in their food everyday, and it has helped. I think it's more dry skin, because ike Val said, the weather EVERYWHERE has been insane.

Because with feeding it to her though, because it packs on calories FAST!

I know this is an old thread, but Mishka has been scratching his neck a lot recently. Tonight he was scratching so violently he managed to create a sore and started bleeding a bit. And of course he wouldn't let me look at it or anything. -_-

I've never seen any fleas on him. I'm not entirely sure what could be causing this.

More than likely it is allergies related to the weather and/or just dry skin--again weather related. I spoke with my vet last week about Juno digging so much and she recommended Benadryl. It seems to have made quite a bit of difference.

Good luck.

He gets coconut oil daily but I wonder if it's not enough to combat possible weather related allergies. The weather here hasn't really changed much though. We still have 80-90 degree heat and high humidity.

I'll keep an eye on him and see if I can figure it out.

Anna is always biting herself, but hers could also be from dry skin. We live in SC so we also have high 90's and high humidity. Thankfully it is slowly starting to go down but still in the high 80's. I cannot wait for cold weather. Our vet at one point had her take zyrtek because I was concerned about her eyes. They are always red and the zyrtek helped with her eyes, so it could be allergies I am not sure. I might try putting her back on zyrtek and see if she stops biting herself so much.

Bane was scratching REALLY bad. To the point that I had to go over and touch him to get his attention. We switched their food, got them Seresto flea collars, and it has really cut back on the scratching. Hopefully you find what's making him scratch!

If you think it might be allergies, I'd talk to your vet and give benedryl a try... But, if you think she just has dry skin Episoothe Shampoo is Awesome! There is also a cream rinse- I use both for my shepherd/lab mix when he gets itchy and it works awesome! You can also talk to your vet about fish oil- its good for their skin/coat. All three of my pups are on it Smile

my husky is chewing on her paws and they're pinkish looking, I am going to take her to the vet soon just to get it checked out but for right now does anyone know what could be causing her to chew on them and why they're so pink?
