Hiking with Dogs: Mt. Lincoln, CO Elevation
We started the hike at 6am from our cabin and walked up Quartzville rd till we could find a break in the private land to head towards the mountain. It was getting hot all ready around 7am and concerns about water and the dogs making the summit started. at the post to start the trail to Lincoln we split up and eddy's mom, Danielle, her pup gunny and me with S&J decided we were gonna try for the summit while the rest headed back to the cabin. we had a plan of one of them driving back up the road to pick us up when we got back to the true trail head/off road trail. It ended up being a great girls hike, Eddys mom and I can be trouble and if it were not for Danielle and the pups we would have headed for a 2nd 14er summit, instead we called it good and headed back down the main trail.
here are the pictures Smile

We put in 6 miles and I still don't consider it a hike. Sacrificed what I wanted to do to get you guys on trail. Seriously think it's time for you and mother to get a course in route finding and planning. There is a liability on my part when we take off as a group and some break off not entirely sure of where they are going. You can assure me all day long that I won't get sued, but you can't garuantee what family members do...

Anyway, I still have to sort through my pics. Haven't taken the card out of the camera yet.

Looks like fun! Do you guys ever run not wildlife? Your hikes are always so ... barren ... Looking. Just wondering if you see any wildlife at those elevations.

funny you should bring that up.....We saw i think 3 HUGE deer on this hike in the grassy area headed to the trail. Coco saw the last one and kind of went for it while we were breaking on that snow field before splitting, her leash got stuck in this Hiking with Dogs: Mt. Lincoln, CO 2012-07-01081121
and that stopped her thank god! i forget what those stupid bushes are called at the moment.
