2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Warts in mouth! Empty
PostSubject: Warts in mouth!   Warts in mouth! EmptyTue Feb 18, 2014 1:34 pm

I was playing with Jasper last week and I noticed he has a couple warts on his lips right by his canines, and about 4 more small on his lips farther back. From what I understand, this is because he's still a pup and his immune system isn't 100% and that there isn't a whole lot the vet can do apart from surgical removal, but honestly I don't think surgery is warranted just because I don't like the look of them. They don't seem to be bothering him (he's still eating and drinking normally) but I would like to get rid of them asap! Anyone else have this problem or have any tips for stuff I can do/give him to make them fall off faster?

Oh and is it possible they're making him lethargic?? He seems noticeably less hyper lately but still gets his 'spurts of crazy' a couple times a day. Part of me thinks I'm just subconsciously associating the two, and maybe he's just calming down because he's almost one? Guess I just always expected to have a crazy hyper dog forever  lol!

It's pretty normal. Here is a previous thread about it.

My pup got them. It took a couple weeks for them to go away, but yeah, they go away on their own.

I don't know sometimes the search works better than others. Smile Hope Jasper gets rid of those warts soon, they really are an inconvenience more than anything.

So sorry Jasper got puppy warts! Kai had them (that was my thread that was linked to). The bad news is that there really isn't any treatment other than benign neglect. Under serious circumstances, they can be removed. But it can be dangerous for young pups and they have been known to grow back. So it turns out to be a waiting game. It took about 2 months for Kai's to fully go away. They didn't bother her, but she couldn't go to daycare or dog parks, which really upset her. So it's just annoying.

The good news is that once Jasper rids them, he likely will never get them again. They're to dogs as chickenpox is to children.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Awesome to know! and yeah, the no dog-park thing is what's killing us. His seem to be decreasing in size already, so hopefully it'll only be a month and we'll be in the clear
