Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Hello from Newfoundland   Hello from Newfoundland EmptySun Jul 29, 2012 10:43 pm

Hi, although the two pups we have are not Siberian to our knowledge. Thought this may be a good spot to find some great information.

Zero - our Husky, German Sheppard Labrador Retriever cross (Apparently the mother was a Husky/Sheppard). This little lady is about 18 months old and seems to be a Husky shape with the Sheppard color and the Retrievers personality.

Stig - we just adopted 2 days ago from the local SPCA, is 6-7 weeks old and was found beside the road in Sheshshatshui,Labrador at the age of 2 weeks. We don't know if he is a pure bred or not.

That is all for now, and hopefully we will have some photos to show later.

EDIT: So we decided to use the DNAmyDog Service in Canada to try and find out our dogs composition...
the prove two things, Stig is mostly a husky, and Zero is quite the mutt Smile

Hello from Newfoundland Stig Hello from Newfoundland Zero

Now you may ask what those levels may indicate... well here goes... Smile

What your dog’s breed composition means

Level 1
This category recognizes when a dog’s DNA contains a majority of one specific breed (75% or greater). A dog will only report with a Level 1 breed if they have a high percentage match to a single breed in their DNA. Most mixed breed dogs will not usually have a breed in this category unless one or both of their parents are purebred.

Level 2
This category reports breeds that may be easily recognizable in your dog. Each breed listed makes up between 37%-74% of your dog’s breeds. Dogs with a large mixed ancestry will not normally have breeds reporting at this level.

Level 3
This category identifies breeds that have between 20%-36% of the listed breed(s).

Level 4
This category represents 10%-20% of the breed DNA. Dogs with large mixes may have a number of breeds in this category.

Level 5
This category represents the lowest level of breed in your dog occurring at 9% or less. These breeds still appear at a low and measurable amount in your pet's DNA and were likely carried over from several generations.

Welcome from Nova Scotia. Your pups are
sweet, can't wait to see more pictures.

We adopted Char from the SPCA as well. I have had many people ask me if he is one of the "Mushkadoodle/ FedEx" puppies, but we adopted him before they arrived.

they both are quite sweet, but some tlc will take care of what issues stig has, but they come with most puppies Smile
as for zero, I will try and find some photos of her with her typical smile, she also likes to photo bomb.
