Hi,
i have a 6 and a half month old female Husky named Kao. Since i have gotten her she has had two skin infections on her belly. I take her to the vet and he gives me antibiotics and a cream to put on the area and this has cleared it up quite quickly. My concern is what could be causing these infections? The vet says hes not sure and that he doesnt think its anything im doing. Ive heard that it could be an allergic reation to the food im feeding her. Ive got her on Pulsar salmon formula and havnt had any problems with it so far. Im not sure what to do, i havnt had this problem with any of my other dogs so far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Good place to start would be the kibble. As much as I preferred feeding a salmon based food I recently changed to a chicken, lamb, & rice as Adobo was going thru some troubles. Still to recent to decide if it has made a difference.

Another possibility can be contact allergies. What do the infections look like in the early stages? Red bumps?, or rash?

They're little bumps, almost like pimples. Then after a while they scab over. She had one that was fairly large, probably the size of a quarter.

Hm. Sounds like a possible contact allergy. Food allergies are more general itchiness. You can get some baby wipes or doggy wipes (or even a damp wash cloth) and wipe him down after he comes in from playing outside and see if that helps. If that doesn't seem to work then I would lean more toward food. Is Kao on flea preventative?

Excellent. There are orals as well that, so far to me, that work a tad better like Comfortis or Trifexis (which is also for Heartworms and is a prescription.) But only because they don't wash off the hair coat and don't leave an oily mess. (ekk! lol) Advantage is an excellent product though!!

I hope that some of that helped. Keep us updated! Very Happy

Oh and Welcome!! lol
