My first pet ever, Luna! Empty
PostSubject: My first pet ever, Luna!   My first pet ever, Luna! EmptyWed Dec 05, 2012 3:28 pm

I adopted Luna 6 weeks ago and I just wanted to say thank you for everyone on this forum for all the tips and advice I found here. She is my first pet (I'm 28, i know its sad). Everyone I talked to said not to adopt a husky as a first dog, but I researched a ton of information, a lot of it from this forum, and figured it would be a lot of work, but fun. Having been with her for 6 weeks, she is amazing and I couldn't be happier. I think she is a husky / border collie mix, but I didn't get a lot of information about her history. She is a rescue and through some Facebook research looking at the two rescue groups pages that had her for a time, I found out she was abandoned in a box on the side of the road in South Dakota and was brought to their humane society than bumped around a few foster homes, was adopted once, than I got her from them to finally end up with me. I can't figure out why it took this long to find her a forever home. I think shes beautiful, smart, and just generally awesome. Anyways, Thank you, for people like me who don't know how to solve behavior problems on their own, the information here is invaluable. Here are some pictures I took with a terrible camera phone and one of her as a puppy just after she was found in South Dakota. Also one of her next to my all time favorite stuffed animal as a kid, been a lifelong dream to own a husky!

So I'm no longer convinced she is part border collie, one of my more dog knowledgeable friends thinks she might be part Pharaoh Hound. I'd be interested to hear any other guesses of what mix she might be.

You could always have her DNA tested to find out what mix she is. Either way she's beautiful.

She's a doll I love you
Congratulations on finding your new best friend.
She looks like she is mostly husky. Not sure what the other 25% would be, mutt maybe?

I've always been curious about DNA testing. How expensive is it/ how do you go about it?

She's beautiful! I'm not good at figuring out what dogs are mixed with but I'll give it a shot. Husky/border collie/red heeler mix maybe? I don't really see any pharaoh hound.

She looks like a shepherd/husky to me. I grew up around a lot of different shepherds of different(poorly bred but pure) types with similar structure to her.
