Weird Bump On Lip Empty
PostSubject: Weird Bump On Lip   Weird Bump On Lip EmptyWed Dec 12, 2012 11:53 am

I was playing with Nicky this morning and I noticed a really weird bump on her lip! I've never seen this before and sorta freaked out by it.

I googled dog wart on lip, but it doesn't really look like those in google images.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Could it be a skin tag?

*edit* I just did a bit more researching and I hope it's not oral papillomatosis!
Just looked in her mouth and she has like 5 others in her mouth on her gums.

Puppy warts? Lola had two of them. The one on her lip looked more like cauliflower and the one in her mouth looked like a canker sore. I applied vitamin e to them. Other than that, they went away pretty much on their own. It took maybe two months but I think if I had started the vitamin e earlier it might have lessened the time. Did you try the search on the forum for wart? I think I remember seeing other peoples experience. Or maybe a trip to the vet would put your mind at ease?

That's canine papilloma virus. It is the result of a low immune system and being exposed to another dog who had it. There is nothing to worry about it other than it is nasty looking - it IS contagious, though dogs over 2 with a good immune system shouldn't need to worry(Koda never got it from Ro). Rogue got one from daycare around 11 months, though she only had one and it never spread since I noticed it and monitored it so well. I'd take away bones and everything right now that could end up cutting the wart, because that causes it to spread. Get some L-Lysine off Amazon or your health store and give it to her. That's what I did, and Rogue had it gone within 2 weeks which is awesome since I've heard of it taking months (I know others that did this with great success too, shouldn't take more than 4 weeks max). I also put thyme extract directly on the wart but I would say the L-Lysine is all you really need.

Storm had this too but L-lysine didn't do anything for him and it spread in his mouth. We got azithromycin from the vet and it cleared it up in less than a week.

Cally had this a few months back. Definitely Canine Oral Papillomas. We took her to the vet and he popped two of them to build up her immunity faster bu putting the virus in her system and they were gone within a week, two tops... They didn't give us anything for it but they went away on their own.

I plan on taking her to the vet this week! I hope they will give her something to take it away.
