| Hey everyone, We are new here and I have spent so much time reading all of the posts and information about all kinds of topics that, honestly, the vet isn't nearly as helpful as you have all been!
I do have one question... for now, I am sure I will have more in the future...
Here it is... Our puppy Nanook who is almost 5 months old has really floppy soft ears. I have noticed in many pictures of young huskies that their ears have been floppy but by this age, they seem to have perked up and are standing up.
It has been suggested to us to give him minerals and/or calcium to correct it and we have also been told not to do anything because, depending on his genetic history, especially if it is a history of sled dogs, there may be some hound in him and that may explain his floppy ears....
Any ideas?.... |

| Those ears don't look like they are going to stand up and I would expect them to be up by now if they were going to go up. Is he a rescue? That is not uncommon in husky mixes and I've seen many mixes that look just like him. And even if he's not a mix, it does happen every now and then even in purebred dogs. Besides, this makes him more unique and looks oh so much cuter. _________________ |

| I agree, I don't think they'll stand up either, and there isn't really anything you can do about it. I have never heard of someone using supplements to make a husky's ears stand up. He might have some hound in him, his body does look kind of long and sleek like a hound, but that could also just be the stage he's in as a puppy. The all grow at different rates, and have different awkward phases, but I'm pretty sure the ears aren't going anywhere. It's adorable though! |

| we think he is pretty darn precious no matter what. No, he is not a rescue. Both of his parents are purebred huskies - we have no papers or anything so I suppose there is always potential for that not being the case. He is healthy and happy so that is all we really care about! Thanks for the feedback! |

| Yes, he is long but I think that picture makes him look even longer. I love the floppy ears I just wanted to make sure he wasn't missing anything nutritionally. He sure is a lot of fun and is definitely the most outspoken in the house! |

| He is way too cute.. I have no idea on why his ears are not standing up or whether they will. I doesn't look like they will. |
