So my poor Selena was up all night with projectile vomiting and awful diarrhea . To the ER vet we went. They did a full blood count & x-rays but everything came back fine. I can't recall her getting into anything unusual...the only thing she had that was new to her was a nylabone which she does occasionally eat but I have always given her the lamb & apple flavor and this time was roast beef. They suppose it is gastroenteritis. They were also questioning an internal parasite, since she has been playing with a new puppy across the street who was quarantined, had diarrhea and the owners have not taken him to a vet yet. Anyways $700 later, they gave her fluids, pepcid injection to calm to her stomach, cerenia injection for the vomiting, flagyl for diarrhea and panacur for deworming! No water or food for 12 hours...(bland diet when she does). So far since we have been home...she has NOT moved off her bed. It has been close to 5 hours and she barely even opens her eyes when she hears something. (I actually had to carry her out of the car when we got home, she just wanted to sleep). Do you guys think this is normal since she had a rough night/morning, effects from the medications, something else wrong....I am wondering if I should take her in to be re-checked, or am I just an over freaked out mom! (Her heart rate and breathing seem ok) I hate when my baby is sick

sounds like your having the day we had with sierra at the start of the month but i got out a hair cheaper then you but not by much! did they do a fecal test for any bugs? sierra had caught a bug and that was causing all her issues after a zillion test. did you call the vet back and tell them how she is acting? it could be the meds or a reaction to them. is she getting up on her own to go potty? hope she feels better soon _________________

That is scary, hopefully everything will be fine soon! I bet its just from the day and the medications that is making her not want to move. Can you call the Emergency Vet and see if its anything that you should be concerned about? I doubt its anything out of the ordinary as it sounds like quite the day, but it never hurts to call!

Be guarded but also remember the last time that you were good and sick. My guess would be you ached really bad, spent most of the day in bed or on the sofa, hugged a pillow for comfort, same thing with a dog. Keep track of vitals and if you don't see any improvement let your vet know.

Thanks for the replies! I called the Dr. and they said most likely she is just exhausted from having a rough night/day, just to watch her temp, heart rate and breathing. Maybe now I can get some sleep too lol. She did finally just get up to go out and potty for the first time since being home. So far, no vomiting or diarrhea since being home . Hopefully she will start to feel better in the AM!!
