Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| I assure you, we are not alcoholics. She earned her name. Tipsy was my husbands post deployment gift when he returned from Iraq in 2009. She turned 4 on August 2. We definitely had our hands fill the first 6 months with her, but extensive training and patience helped. We haven't really had any issues to speak of, until this year. My son was born in December, and we have been having some issues with her ever since. I stay home, and she has a brother (5yr old Springer Spaniel) She's rarely left alone, and when she is, 90% of the time she gets crated. Regardless of the attention and exercise she gets, she's continually rebelling, which I'm sure is due to the addition of a baby in the house, even tho she absolutely adores him. Should I direct my questions toward the specific forum it belongs in, as this is a welcome thread? Thanks!

| I don't want this question to get lost. I'm going to bump it in hopes that a moderator may move it to the behavior question area.
We brought 2 babies into our home when we had our first husky. She was 5 or 6 years old when baby #1 came and 10 ish for the arrival of #2. She did not act out so much as become withdrawn. Don't you just wish you could get inside their heads? I'm sure something is bothering him. Sandy also seemed to like the babies. I think no matter how much we think we are not doing it, we really are paying them less attention and giving first priority to the baby. I don't know how to fix that though. Perhaps others have ideas... |

| Maybe this helps some: http://animal.discovery.com/tv-shows/its-me-or-the-dog/training-tips/new-baby-old-dog.htm
May help to know what she is doing to act up. I do know that animals seem to be effected a lot by their surroundings. So if you had a laid back home environment before baby and that has changed, it could cause issues. Even my cats started fighting again when I had people staying with me. They got more attention but our house became really busy with and not so calm. |

| when I had my first child my breeder at the time told me to put my husky outside before I brought the baby in, and bring the dog back in after the baby was already in the house . I did this and never had an issue (maybe a little late for that now but for the future something to remember) |
