Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

They weren't abused or anything... its not that bad. But, still a little heartbreaking if you ask me. A 48 year old woman passed away leaving behind her 2 dogs (one is a husky mix) in Elkhart, IN (close to me, that's how I stumbled upon the article). There's no way in our little house we could take in another dog, let alone 2, but I thought I would get the word out. I have no idea if any one lives in the area or knows of anyone in the area, but Elkhart isn't too far from Michigan and I know several people are from MI on this board. Anyways, I had to share! Here's the article:

Awwww, that is very sad. I worry about that a lot (because I'm weird like that), like what would happen to my poor babies if I passed away suddenly. I don't trust anyone with them now, let alone worry about who they would live with. Its sad because it not like anyone could ever explain to them that I died, and didn't just abandoned them. I guess that's my morbid input for the day.

It is very nice though that her friends didn't just leave them at a shelter and are trying to find them a nice home. Hopefully it happens soon so they don't have to continued being boarded. Both dogs are beautiful and look very well taken care of!

Is it funny occassionally I think of setting up a trust fund for the caretakers of my pets and if somone does not care for them, they don't get my money? I have thought about this a few times, but never looked into it much.

One of the breeders I was considering before I found Dizzy's breeder actually required a purchaser of a puppy to have a plan in writing about what/who would care for the dog if something suddenly happened. I think its a good idea, it made me think about it in a way I hadn't thought about it before.
