Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Hello everyone I haven't been here in a while due to me joining the military. Saya is currently being taken care of by my sister who is currently taking time off of college to do so. I finish training in 3 months and then find out where I'll be stationed at. If I get stationed in the states I'll be moving saya to where I get stationed to. But if I get stationed overseas I won't be able to. I'm still not sure if my sister will not be able to take care of her so I'm pretty much just hoping for the best but getting ready for the worst case scenario. If we are not able to take care of her I would like to know if there is anybody willing to foster her for a temporary time. If anybody is interested please let me know and perhaps we can work something out. As of now it's just a maybe though because for all I know I may just stay in the states, but getting prepared for things can never hurt.
If anybody is interested or requires more info please let me know. Thanks

| I sent you a pm, but wanted to post something here too in case anyone else has this situation in the future. There is an organization called Dogs on Deployment. They are a non profit that vets foster homes, does background checks, and connects service members with these homes. I definitely suggest contacting them. I am also putting all my feelers out and trying to get in touch with as many people as I can to help you out. Also, I would suggested editing the title of your post to something like: Military foster needed NY area. That way it will kind of narrows down to your target. Also, we have some other military members on here that may have some suggestions more specific to your situation.
I really wish we could take her, but our place is so tiny! I think its heartbreaking that our service members have to worry about their pets while they are overseas. I remember there was a story over the summer about someone who left his lab with a friend and the guy just gave the dog away, and lied every time he asked about him. Anyway, I'm going to do everything I can to help you find a place for Saya, and if you want me to, I'll be a third party point person that can do home visits and check up on her if needed. |

| Also, I highly recommend, no matter who you leave her with, you have a contract and have someone you trust as a backup/contact person in case the foster needs to give her up for any reason (maybe your sister). |
