Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Shes got a stubborn attitude but a heart of gold. She feels that the house and bed are hers and she is only temporarily letting me stay!

Oh yes! I am from Tewksbury but I have relatives in Lunenburg & Pepperell. You'll definitely have to join in on some Mass husky meet ups! Smile

Welcome and glad to see more Mass. folks joining! Your girl is beautiful! I'm in Billerica (right next to Laura in Tewksbury). Have you joined the Boston Snow Dogs group on Meetup? You don't have to be from Boston to join, as the meetups happen all over eastern Mass., some of them not too far from the Worcester/Leominster area.

I haven't been to an actual meetup yet since Layla is pretty young, but now that she has her second set of shots and rabies shot we will be attending more events. BSD holds their own "urban mushing" events throughout the year, usually sledding on trails, skijoring, bikejoring, whatever you do with your dog. It's a great way to meet people, socialize your dogs and get some exercise! The community really is passionate about the dogs and the sports they do.

There are also other events the Meetup group posts that are just get-togethers for folks and their dogs. Sometimes they're educational events about sledding that the public attends as well. There are annual dues to be in the group that cover the costs of maintaining the group on Meetup.com (Meetup charges a quarterly fee to group organizers), but it's only $25/year or something around that.

Here's the link to BSD on Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/BOSTONSNOWDOGS/

Also, there is a thread on this forum for Massachusetts meetups (https://www.itsahuskything.com/t11433-massachusetts-meet-up). I sometimes post some fliers from events I see on the BSD Meetup group there that are open to the public. There's a cool educational sledding event coming up next weekend at Blue Hills in Milton, Mass., that you are more than welcome to attend. I hear it draws a LOT of people and dogs! My husband Darren and I will be there with Layla!

Then this event at Blue Hills is for you! There will be biking demos with the dogs and you will get to look up close at the different setups you can get for bikejoring, sledding, etc. When Layla is old enough I will train her in harness on the bike, so I'm curious too to see the different options. And, of course, we're looking forward to making some new friends, both canine and human!

The event is next Saturday, Nov. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Houghton's Pond/Blue Hills in Milton, Mass., held by the Yankee Siberian Club. Here's a video from last year's event (I got this from the BSD event page on Meetup): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgAwrcXNt7o&feature=youtu.be
