Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! Advice for having my husky pull me on a scooter? Empty
PostSubject: Advice for having my husky pull me on a scooter?   Advice for having my husky pull me on a scooter? EmptyWed Jan 22, 2014 11:53 pm

I'm thinking of having my 1-yr old husky male pull me around a tennis court while I ride something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Razor-PowerWing-Caster-Scooter-Black/dp/B001HK23ES/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1390445415&sr=8-11&keywords=scooter+razor

My husky weighs 53 lbs and I weight about 175 lbs.

1. Is this a bad idea to do for any reason? Are his bones/joints developed enough at 1-yr old?
2. Anyone have any suggestions for how to do this safely?

Thanks.

I have been advised 18 month to 24 months before starting. However you can practice the commands with him in harness.

I have been advised 1 year is ok to start with very small distances and depending on surfaces and building up your dogs stamina and skill.
Not sure about this scooter though, I would probably go for something like this (this is what I'm looking on getting), will be a lot safer for you and the dog.

Link may be irrelevant to you as I am based in Australia but this is just an idea of a scooter to use.

I just posted the same thing in another thread, but my breeder told me they're not really supposed to run on concrete/asphalt/paved surfaces in general? Thoughts?

Should be doable.

My boy can pull at least 100 pounds on a sleigh in the snow. 175 pounds on wheels should be really easy compared to that. They are built to pull.
