Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Possibly adding a new member to my family   Possibly adding a new member to my family EmptyFri Nov 12, 2010 12:56 pm

Well I have been putting a lot of thought lately into adding a new member to my family. My current two dogs get along very well, but my older dog just really has no interest in being a really good friend with my husky. He pretty much just tolerates her being around him. He's more people oriented. I do take them to the dog park as often as i can so she can get good dog interaction and she really thrives off being able to play a lot and hard with other dogs. So of course, my answer to this, to keep her company during the day, is adding a new member. I was finally able to buy my own home, with a nice big fenced in yard, at the tender age of 23 (yay), so i feel that i can provide a great home. Well I was looking around on craigslist and about an hour and 45 mins away there is an older gentleman rehoming an accidental breeding of husky pups (irresponsible, i know, but unfortunately i can't control people who choose to not have their dogs fixed and dont watch them when the female is in heat). But to cover vet bill he's asking a rehoming fee of $50, which tells me hes obviously not trying to make a profit off of these puppies so I dont feel quite so much that he is a back yard breeder out to make pure profit on his dogs. Of course, when I go to meet him i'll be asking him about the health of the parents and all that jazz.
The pups are 8 weeks old and just cute as can be: (not sure of their age in the picture)

Cool looking pups! Tell him to put the money for the pups to spay/neuter of his pets. He probably won't listen (I've heard every excuse out there) but at least you tried to educate him.

Well I'm glad Iooked at craigslist again. I read a reply post saying they are puppymill pups and he sells them with parvo. Now I'd check it out myself but it would be a possible 4hr roundtrip for nothing. I am in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM giving money to someone who does this. The person says they live outside in dirty conditions and have had not even their 1st puppy shots!! - hate to leave them due to this but I cannot risk my own dogs safety.

Where I live craigslist and puppymills are rampant. They even try to disguise themselves as rescues.
