PostSubject: Tripe and raw feeding   Wed Feb 04, 2015 11:13 am

Our girl, Noelle is fed a raw diet but goes nuts for biscuits. Is there any trouble with feeding kibble a few times a week (a decent variety for sensitive tummy a such as symply)? Also, she will not eat tripe which is a shame as I know it's good for them.... Any tips at all?

Thanks
Dave

You can get freeze dried raw meat treats that are basically the same thing.

If you're opposed to kibble it doesn't seem necessary to feed it to her just because she likes it.

You used biscuits and kibble interchangeably, is that correct?

She just won't eat tripe at all. I annoy opposed to kibble, just wondering if there's anything wrong with feeding it a couple of times a week and then raw meat the rest of the time?

Aha.

Well, it is usually advised against for concerns of digestion and processing rates, among other reasons.

Personally, if she's that crazy for it and you're up for it, I'd leverage the kibble for training purposes rather than for a meal substitute.

A lot of it will depend on your dogs specific stomach. Some dogs, like mine can eat raw one day and kibble the next with no problems, others don't do so well. Like Jeff said, the raw and kibble digest at different rates so if you're going to feed both, do all kibble one day and all raw the next. The more raw you do they better though! I always have kibble on hand just in case we go somewhere I can't refrigerate her food or if I just don't have time that day to prepare it.
