Yesterday, walking down to the mailbox, I noticed doggie paw prints in the new snow going further down the driveway than usual. I followed the prints, worried that someone had breached the fence boundary.

Nope, doggie paw prints stopped just into the warning zone... and kitty prints continued from there into the road Laughing

Good dog sunny

Amy, you have done an amazing job with Ami. I am so happy Ami found you and you found him.

Thanks guys...I'm not sure if it was Ami or Archer, we've had Archer for several days now. Jess's new job has her out of the house for almost 12 hours and in the morning, she has enough to do with getting a little boy off to kindegarten let alone providing enough exercise for a 10 mo old husky before leaving for work at 7:20 in the morning.

But, yes, the training is going well - yesterday Archer was sitting about 10 ft from the warning zone...barking at something across the street. Obviously, very interested but not crossing the boundary. I'm especially happy since deterring feral cats from spraying the front door is one of the doggies' "jobs". And they do it so well lol!

I'm not sure I ever would have had the courage to try the invisible fence if I hadn't seen this boxer on a walk - he came charging across, I dunno, maybe 10 acres, stopped dead like he ran into a glass wall, and barked his fool head off at us, running the whole perimeter beside us but never even a hint of crossing that invisible line. I asked the owner about it, he was out, said not to worry, he wouldn't leave the property. Then a similar incident in another direction with a yappy little terrier of some sort. And also, the dog control officer from whom we got Ami, recommended it. Since he has to pick up the loose strays, I figured he probably had a good handle on how effective these things were. He also seemed to have a particular attachment to Ami and was thrilled to hear we had acreage for him...

I am glad that works for you I think it would take me a while to trust those things and right now I am not in a place to try. But that is a super cute story good dogs.
