Dog with dandruff? Empty
PostSubject: Dog with dandruff?   Dog with dandruff? EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 4:09 pm

Does anyone else's dog have dandruff?  He has little flakes in his coat sometimes.  I don't know why his skin would be dried out - we don't bathe him more than is recommended, which I know is infrequent.  He got incredibly dirty at the dog park a few weeks ago so we had to wash him after that, but otherwise I think he has only been bathed one another time since we've had him (he is six months old).  What should we be doing about this? Question

i would try a different shampoo, it might be something your current one that's causing it. my chihuahua had a similar issue with Joey for a few years. i used earth bath shampoo that i bough on chewy.com or you can usually find them at petco not sure were else they are sold. oh, almost forgot i also added coconut oil to Leo and Joey's diet. and it seam to cleared it up and hes coat and skin has never looked better.

What kind of food are you feeding him? It could also be if you aren't feeding a grain free food that he is allergic and it is causing him to flake.

oh, yeah i forgot to mention that it could be the food like TwisterII said above. or even weirder the water, which was my sister problem with her schnauzer Marley. she started buying filter water for him.

Our sibe has a tendency to have increased dandruff in the summer due to the humidity. The constant back and forth between the humid outdoors and dry, cool, air conditioned indoors causes his skin to dry out and get more dandruff than any other time of year. I knew a lady with shelties who had the same problem every summer. For us it's a summer weather thing, but if it's not the weather it could be so many possibilities and you'll have to rule options out via trial and error.
