Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi everyone. I'm so happy to find a place where people love their huskies as much as I love mine. I wanted to say hi and introduce myself and my boy.
I'm Dee and I'm owned by Frankie. The question of "who saved who" is still up for debate.

In Oct. 2009, I started to consider getting a dog. I grew up with dogs, but never owned one as an adult. Two days after having a conversation with my mom about me adopting a dog, Frankie showed up at my sister's door out of nowhere. She already had two dogs and no room for any more. We searched for the owner's, because this beautiful purebred had to belong to somebody. While walking him around, someone stopped and asked if we just found this dog. She said it was her daughter's dog, but they did not want him any more. If he came home, they were dropping him off at a shelter so told us to either keep him or bring him to the local shelter. We gave her our contact info and asked that her daughter call us to give us his history, but they never did. He was so sweet, and it had to be fate that he showed up to us when he did.

He wasn't in great shape. Malnourished, underweight, and hookworms. The vet estimated he was about 7-8 months. After the first few weeks, I began to understand why the previous owners did not want him, he was SO crazy. I did my research on the breed and thought "Oh God, what did I get myself into". But I made a commitment and planned to follow it through. I contacted the local sibe rescue who provided me with resources and I hired a great trainer. The first few months were difficult. Now, a little over a year later, my boy is canine good citizen certified and a certified therapy dog. He keeps me busy along with my 6 y/o son and has brought so much joy to our lives. I couldn't possibly imagine my life without him and don't know if I could ever NOT own a husky now.

Looking forward to meeting husky lovers alike

Welcome!
I LOVE your story!!!
I really believe that Frankie did come to your for a reason, and I'm SO happy you made a commitment to him and followed through! Most would have given up, as his previous owners have, but you have given him SO much, and now look at him! Canine Good Citizen AND therapy dog! He has given back to you for giving him a chance!

Good for you for taking him in and committing! You'll find that he will bring you even more joy and happieness in the years to come than he already has, and I'm sure you will give back to him!

I'm pretty sure you'll love it here on the forum!
Again, Welcome!

That's GREAT! I'm hoping to take Nut for therapy dog certification in the next year or two (once she calms down a bit Rolling Eyes )

Sounds like you and Frankie needed each other. Fate works in wonderful ways!

Welcome!! Frankie sure is a cutie. I would love to have Reiko as a therapy dog as well, but he's a little bit of a nut at the moment Razz
