| Hello,
I'm new to this forum but have been lurking around for awhile and reading discussions. My husky will be turning 8months and am still having trouble potty training her. I take her out around 8:00 in the morning but she still manages to fill her cage up with urine overnight. I work from midnight-3:00am and get home around 4 so wondering if I should take her out then before 8:00.
The new issue I'm having is her ripping apart my wall. While I'm home ill let her out of the cage in a small spot I have set up for her. She has all sorts of toys for her to play with but finds the wall and handrails to be more interesting and fun to bite on.
I know huskys are notorious for these kinds of things but it would be helpful if anyone has any insights on what I can do. Tried taking her to an obedience class and she was easily distracted by the other dogs and didn't want to listen at all. |

| I would take her out when you get home at 4 AM. They hold their bladder while sleeping because of metabolic/endocrine mechanisms. With you coming home, likely that she wakes, is eager to see you and her physiology has said " nights over, time to pee." Eight months? She's a teenager. I would tether her to me while loose in the house to keep things whole. When son's pup was that age, I thought mayhem would erupt - Archer was forever eating rugs, chairs, molding, socks...anything he could get his mouth on. Only when son (finally) took my advice and started tethering him to his waist, did puppy stop. Well, it wasn't immediate...son had to learn to also pay attention to what pup was doing Helps if you've been a parent or previous dog owner to get this down |

| I agree with Amy. If she is having accidents then you want to let her out more. I would let her out as soon as you get home. Also when potty training it's a good idea to stop giving water a few hours before bed. |

| We have this problem with Snow! We have to take him out at least 5x a day since our backyard isn't THAT big so he does gets bored easily. When he was younger we would take his water away an hour or 2 before bed but as he got older he was able to control his bladder. Now he has his water in his area without mess. Definitely agree to walk your pup as soon as you get home, especially she's really excited to see you when you come home. Snow knows the times I wake up to go jogging with him.. 5 am every day, if I'm even late for 5-10 minutes, he will start howling and wake up the neighbors.. I'm really not allowed to sleep in anymore with him lol. He doesn't care about my Sundays
Like I said huskies get really bored easily. You'll need to find activities for your pup to channel all that energy..chewing is a big sign of being bored (teething for pups) try taking her out to the park and get her running around or practice some agility drills with her to tire her out. My dog loves tennis balls and the kong toy where you can stick a little treat inside, keeps him busy for awhile. |

| I second the tethering suggestion. It's a very effective way of keeping them out of trouble, teaching them manners, and house training them. |
