| I tried to do a search for Vari Kennel's but it was just a very broad search with anything having the word "kennel" in it that popped up.
Bane has gotten his nose stuck several times in his wire crate. Like between the bottom piece, and the gate. My parents plan on giving us a Vari Kennel for him, but my only concern is that he might try chewing his way out of it. Has anyone ever had this happen? We don't even want to lock him up in his wire crate due to him getting his nose stuck twice now, and scraping it up pretty bad.
Any thoughts, or comments would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

| Anya has only had airline ready vari kennels. She's had no luck getting out except for the couple times we forgot to engage the lock She seems to like it, she'll even volunteer to go in it when she's tuckered out after a H2M2 or a long day of play dates. Its very den-like! |

| That's what I was thinking as well. I think that his wire crate he has now is just too open for him, so he wants out. I am definitely going to try him in the Vari Kennel before we bring it home. At least his little nose won't get beat up when he tries to escape! |

| It's been suggested ...someplace, my memory is just crap, that the plastic kennels are harder to chew through than it would appear because there is nothing to get a hold of to chew on. Wire crates are a tough one, lots of them are just plain junk! They are made with thin wire, really poor door latches, the collapsible ones collapse when in use, and so on and so on. Good ones do exist, I have one from General Cage that is close to 25 years old and has been used for dogs and goats, and is still used daily. I also have a petsmart store brand crate that lasted a month, it's going to be a compost bin(and the compost will probably escape!). Good luck, personally, if your dog will use and respect a plastic crate then by all means go with a plastic one as they are so easy to pack and take with if you travel. |

| I think the airline approved crates are harder to escape from. That's why they're airline approved. I do agree most wire crates these days are crap. 20 years ago I had some made by Midwest, and they held up beautifully. I'm kicking myself for ever getting rid of them during my dogless stint. I don't know if they're still any good. (I have a cheapo one now and am just very lucky that Luci doesn't try to escape.) |

| I have gone with the varikennels from day one! I got lucky with both and found them being sold locally in my area second hand so they were cheaper than from walmart or online. Both dogs have no issues with their crates, neither try to escape (in fact for about 8 months, Karli's didn't even have the screws in, the top was just sitting on the bottom, because I couldn't find them when we got home from our vacation and then when I did find them, it took me forever to put them on.) I cover both with a blanket to make it darker inside and they settle right down. I love my varikennels. |
