| My Husky "Tundra" Has been a voracious eater since she was a pup to the point I had to hand feed or slow bowl her meals. But over the past few weeks she has not been eating much at all and is very peckish. Some days she will slowly eat throughout the day or hardly at all.
I took her to the vet and they can't see anything wrong, tried different food etc to no avail.
She still has her energy so I am not overly concerned.
Do you guys have any 2 cents on the matter?

| How old is she? How much does she weigh/height? What do you feed? Once a pup is 12-18 months old their appetite slows down. Being hot out, may slow her eating down, as well as exercise levels decrease appetite does as well. Generally speaking huskies eat 20-25% less than bag recommendations, and less than other typical breeds. Some are very good at self regulating so they tend to stay on the lean side and tend to skip meals, or eat less to maintain their happy spot as far as weight is concerned. |

Yeah she is 18 months and very healthy 52 pound and a little short 22 inches if I remember , lean mean running machine. I feed her roughly 2.5-3 cups a day of high grade kibble |

| Mountain, I would decrease her food allotment. It's just their breed, nothing wrong. Most here with adult dogs probably feed 1.5 - 2 cups of kibble a day. So try feeding 2 cups, if she maintains her weight then right on. If she is loosing weight and ribs, hip bones start showing then increase her food. A lean dog is far healthier than an over weight dog and oddly enough many huskies know what weight is good for them. |

| I agree with Renee, I sounds like she's just self regulating. The 2.5-3 cups was good for her when she was a growing puppy, but now she doesn't need so much as she isn't growing anymore. Yes, she may fill in some but doesn't need that amount of food. As Renee said, 2 cups of a high quality food should be enough...depending on activity level, metabolism, etc it may even still be more than enough but it's a good place to start. Nothing to worry about! _________________ |
