2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Husky - My Husky looks and acts like a Malamute Empty
PostSubject: My Husky looks and acts like a Malamute   Husky - My Husky looks and acts like a Malamute EmptyTue Nov 14, 2017 7:17 pm

Hey everybody new to the forum! I have been asking myself this question for a while now and wanted some summunity input.

I have 2 registered huskies. Maya (red/brown female) and Balto (black and white male).

The question is reguardijg Balto. He weighs 95 lbs, is very  woolly has an overly affectionate personality, is extremely gentle and looks almost like a textbook malamute. Yet he has siblings from the same litter that are completely stereotypical husky. Has anyone else run into this before?

Thanks! Husky - My Husky looks and acts like a Malamute Img_0010

There are a few around that are big and have a Mal look to them that come from backyard breeding situations. Even with papers there is the chance he could have Mal in him. Were there mals at the home where he was born? Or nearby? You can always verify with a DNA test. He is large, even for a standard Mal really. Looks to have the wider Mal ear set but his ears are sharper more like a husky.

I love this picture.

My brother used to have a Black Lab, a female that happened to be made pregnant by a Rottweiler. I think she had like 5 puppies. 2 looked exactly like purebred Rottweilers (even into adulthood) and the other 3 exactly like Black Labs, so it does happen that two different breed parents can have pups that look like only one of the breeds. My former neighbor has a Pitbull mix that you wouldn't know was mixed with anything, looks full on Pitbull.

Do you have other pics of Balto we can see? My first impression is just a bigger husky. I do see some Malamute type qualities but I could also be over analyzing Wink I wanna stick with just a bigger sized husky but it'd be cool to see some other pics if you have them!
