Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I'm going to have to try out your weed killer recipe. I've never heard of muscadines before! If Mishka lived where you are, I'd be sure to have to have charcoal and peroxide handy. I have to watch her with things like berries like a hawk.

Jimmy - I would ONLY use this recipe where you want NOTHING to grow - the salt will build up and rapidly make the area inhospitable to plant life. Which is just fine for the limited area I want to use it in...I think. I'll have to check what large trees are further back whose roots might be impacted.

Thank you Amy! The weeds I want to spray are in the joints and cracks of cement, like my driveway or the flagstone decking in the backyard. Cement and flagstone are absorbent so I'd rather not have chemical there that might be "held" there and the dogs paws are exposed to it. I've been pulling any planter weeds, haha, keeps me busy Wink

Salt has a destructive effect on concrete. And, unless you have a very unusual drive what you have is a concrete drive not a cement drive (see this page)

Take a look at this Google Search

Then I guess I will continue to just scrape out the weeds in my cement driveway.

You could scrape them out then apply Preen to prevent new seeds from sprouting there. They could still grow from roots but, once watered in and dry, it's safe around pets as long as they don't eat leaves it might be on - which should be none if you remove weeds first.

i usually use pliers to pluck the weeds out of the drive way or wait for a really hot day and put some apple cider vinegar on the cut weeds that i could pull.

@bluemoods thank you! I have some Preen too that a friend gave me when she moved. I want to say to that I've really been enjoying your contributions to the forum.

@RedFlashFire05 thank you! I've been using a screwdriver, haha. Weeds only get bad after the "rains" stop and Spring starts. Just hate the way they look.
