So, we are looking at getting at possibly getting a buddy for Dante. My question is, would he most likely get along better with another male puppy, or a female, or does it even really matter? It's probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find it

I don't think it really matters. I've heard it's best to get a male and a female, but I have two females and they love each other. My mom has several dogs and some get along and others don't. Just depends on their personalities.

BTW, getting another puppy when Dante is only 4months is going to be a handful. You will need to make sure he's not too rough with the puppy. Also I always advise people to get their first dog as trained as possible before getting a second, cause two misbehaving puppies at the same time will be hectic! I think we kind of rushed on getting our second puppy and we got her when Siku was 10months old. I don't think I could have dealt with a 4month old and an 8week old! I was taking Siku to her puppy then obedience classes around then.

It really depends on your dog, Embry is super dominant with other males, so we went for a female, and we've never have had a fight between them in the year they've been together..
