Kayak, my 'soon to be' scootering partner. DSC_0155

It's hard to believe she is only 8 months old...she is looking so mature. I go to pick her up the Sat after Thanksgiving, and she will be kept very busy learning how to pull. I bought a 3 wheel jogging cart off Ebay, for $15, and attached a tug line to it...I walk behind it giving her commands, so it shouldn't take too long.
There is a very active urban mushing group in So.Cal., made up of three or four areas, and the one I go to is in Lancaster. This weekend they are having a weight pulling class for beginners, and on Sunday a scooter run. For those who are intimidated with the thought of bikejoring, scootering with your dog(s) is just as much fun and safer. There is a wide range of adult scooters out there, and one of the cheapest is Torker, at $146 incl. free shipping.
Happy trails.

She's beautiful! I have a dog scooter too. I've only taken my two out a few times, but they love it!

Oh and if you're looking for an x-back harness, I recommend Alpine Outfitters where I got mine from. They are custom made for your dog and I really like them. She'll even sew on your dog's name or your phone number for free. We got our phone number added to ours.

That's great they have urban mushing groups by you! I wish they had a group like that by me. I'm always out there by myself, and while I still have a blast, it would be fun to go with other people. Races are as close to a group hang out as I've gotten, and now that I moved I don't even do that anymore. You guys will have so much fun!

I'll let you know after a few weeks...I think it's prolly a good starter to see if you like scootering or not, without too much outlay.

The equivalent Diggler Dirt Dog is $50 more.

A good scooter will set you back about $500, which is a lot if it sits in the garage most of the time.

Which mine does most of the time.
With the cooler weather now its bust their butt time as I ride the Alpha Dog. I got mine cheap though off of Craigslist.

I've had Kayak for just over a week, and took her out for some tire pulling training...this is to get her used to pulling for future scootering, and also learning the command 'on by'.
I've included some pics when we were nearly home, and also the rig for use a little later on.
The dog in the background is my Rottweiler 'Jilly'...she is also in training for the same thing.

First official scooter run..although we had a few problems with 'on by', the last 1/3rd of the run was excellent (prolly 'cause we were heading for home and treat time!!). My Torker scooter.

Adobo & Biko were the same way yesterday, the last 250 yards was the best part of the trip. They saw home base and we flew like the wind as they know then its treat time.
