Crazy Husky Time Empty
PostSubject: Crazy Husky Time   Crazy Husky Time EmptyTue Jan 03, 2012 3:57 pm

So, my 1.5 year old husky female, Okami, despite having spent the first year or so of her life as a stray, is quite well behaved indoors. She does have a few quirks though- foremost, what I like to call "crazy husky time." I can always tells when Crazy Husky Time is about to happen because she starts panting, her eyes get wide, she gets a huge smile and her ears start poking out to the side rather than up or back. When Crazy Husky Time starts she will literally race back and forth through my apartment with her butt low and tail tucked, oblivious of most everything. She will also start snapping her mouth around. Not in a vicious or aggressive way- she will put her teeth on you if you put your hand near her mouth when she is doing it, but she wont bite. I assume this is some sort of herding instinct? The funniest/weirdest/cutest thing is that if I lay down on the sofa during Crazy Husky Time, Okami will run, leap at me and slam her front paws into me. She will then stand there, with her paws on me, looking happily crazed. If I do not react to her, she will slam her paws into me again- still looking delighted. Its like she is trying to shove me into getting up off the sofa. It is every bit as hilarious and cute as it sounds, but still weird. Any ideas? I usually just play with her during Crazy Husky Time, chasing her and then letting her chase me.

Zoomies, yep, those are zoomies! They all do it. Crazy dogs. LOL! I would take advantage of the Crazy Husky Time and play with her. They normally zonk out after those. Haha!!

She's beautiful by the way Smile

LOL typical Husky behavior Very Happy I calling it the "zoomies" lol. When she puts her paws on you she's asking you to play with her Wink (chase is Kale's favorite game too!) You should film it! I'm sure all of us would love to see Okami's "Crazy Husky Time"!

Yup, the zoomies. We get ours every evening at about 5pm. As some else on here referred...my couch becomes a half pipe and all of the furniture gets respositioned. I started taking him out in the yard to let him run it out, then he poops, and comes in and collapses. It is very entertaining if you ask me.

Thanks Melissa. As one of my friends said, "You finding that dog, collarless, unchipped, in a Dollar Store Parking lot is like me pulling over for a hitchhiker and it turns out shes a supermodel." ;p (Which is actually a fairly apt description since when I found her she was only about 28 lbs and had what I call, "Supermodel ribs".)

Zoomies are a perfect name for it. She really does seem to have the attitude of, "Outtamyway!gottago!gottago!comeonletsgo!" I'll try to record some of the playtime, Brooke. It is always lots of fun. And Happy Yule ;p

100% Zoomies.

Appa hasn't had the zoomies in months ... like ... 4 or 5 months. I'm not sure what we're doing to keep them out of his system, but it's working!

My neighbors have two Huskies, and when they get the Zoomies in mind, get outta the way! Bella & Maguyuk have a well-worn track in my neighbor's yard from doing laps during the Zoomies. It's an amazing thing to see such a pair of fast & agile dogs going full-throttle in the heat of a Zoomie moment! Victoria hasn't gotten the Zoomies yet, but I'm sure she will...

You are so lucky to have found her... and she is lucky to have found you. She's beautiful. My boy gets the zoomies, too. He used to get so wild when he was younger that he'd jump over the coffee table. lol!

Beautiful girl!

Only our girl gets the zoomies. Our boy was shocked by them in the beginning too and tried to stop her! Smile We now take advantage and hubby plays chase with her to wear her out! Non-husky people are mystified by the burst of energy!

I think Storm doesn't have zoomies in him...which is just as well. He's our couch potato, and we love him for being a couch potato.

Ginger hasn't had zoomies since last winter. It's possible that it's because we no longer have to open the door when she has to potty now that we put in a doggy door.

I kinda miss the zoomies a little...but Ginger has this new thing this season that she will for a brief second nip at her tail, spin around, and do a 'play bow' at me and give me 1 single bark, sometimes followed by a low growl. She wants to play with me, so we'll romp around a little and after a couple of minutes (it doesn't last very long), she'll show me her belly because she wants a belly rub....all the while Storm is looking at us from the couch, as comfy as can be.

Elara was doing zoomies on and off the bed while I was trying to sleep. Gave me a nasty wake up when she landed her paws on my arm and neck! Hurt soooo bad! Her zoomies ended then, cause she turned mommy into a monster that wanted to kill her! lol. Mine usually do zoomies around the yard chasing one another.

Sebo gets the zoomies after every poo. It really needs to be a South Park episode or something.
