Yesterday we attended a Skijoring class to get the pup in the spirit of it all. It was loads of fun. The folks that put it on even brought out a Junior Sled and let me steal one of their dogs to team up with Appa. He REALLY got the hang of it with the sled, and was going to town. I wish I had pictures of when that was happening, but we had a camera SD card fiasco to deal with .... without further a-do:

The pup we're running with has done the Iditarod twice now - pretty cool.

They got distracted....

Tried going back to skis, but by now Appa was too pooped. He would barely pull for me.

Fun pictures!
We're taking a XC ski lesson (mainly for me since I'm a snowboarder) on Wednesday. I'm hoping the remainder of this winter season we'll be able to squeeze in at 2 more skijoring weekends with Ginger and Storm. The first time out, they were naturals and instinctly knew what to do almost immediately.

BTW, have I mentioned that Appa is so handsome?? Smile
He looks a little tired in that last picture, but it's still a pretty cute pic!

Bet that was a blast. Goodness he's big. Love the contrast between the two of them.

Jealous. That looks like a great time!

Ha! He is so much bigger than that other dog. What is the other dog?

Wow, looks like you guys had a great time! I can't wait to move north so I can do that stuff too.

It WAS a blast, and he really got into it, so I assume he had a good time as well. When Appa really got into it it was something to behold, the guy running the class asked if I plan on racing him, he thinks he could win some races. I don't plan on it.

I Claudia, I do believe you mentioned that before, but you can again. He is a handsome fella'.

The other dog is a husky-mutt. Crazy full of energy but knew what it was doing for sure. However, it was distracted easier than I imagined, which I thought strange for a seasoned race dog. Maybe I expect too much of Appa, or that dog was having an off day? There were times Appa was trying to keep the course and that dog was trying to sniff a bush or something.

That's a huge compliment! You must be so proud of Appa!

Wish I could get Bodhi and Appa together.
I've been told dogs learn to skijor by chasing another dog.

Glad to see there's snow in Utah. I'll be in Sandy on Weds. to ski and I have been worried by snow reports for Cottonwood Canyon.

Ha! I work in Sandy. The weather has been pretty awful all year, but the Cottonwoods just got some snow last night and are going to get a few more inches this week. Yeah, I'm excited about a few inches ... clearly a bad year. There's no snow in the valley, this was over in park city where they are a little more blessed.

Bodhi + Appa could be a lot of fun. Appa does learn from the other dogs much faster than from me, but sometimes it's just he and I so we do our best.
