They did a nice piece about the shelter I foster kittens for. I saw Ki when she first came to the shelter. She was in terrible condition. Skin and bones and open sores on her neck where the collar was digging into it. The author did get her age wrong, not that it really matters. She was more like 8 months old when she first came in, not 3 months, and she came in about 2 months ago, not 6 months ago.

Here's another picture of Ki.

And on petfinder (My mom called her Kai instead of Ki for some reason).

If anyone knows of a really good home in FL or nearby looking for a husky, tell them about Ki!

Oh and a way to help them out for free is to go to this site: http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces

Click to vote for the shelter challenge. Type in their name Seminole County Animal Services and put in FL and vote for them! If they win in FL they will get $1,000!

Ki found a home today at the adopt-a-thon!!! She went to a couple who recently lost their old labs due to old age. They have a fenced in yard, live here in Deltona, and adopted another dog at the event, so Ki will have a playmate! Very Happy

Also my mom found a home for a pom she rescued and got applications on two jack russels she brought from a vet who was fostering them. It was a long, but successful day! I for some reason got caught up in helping serve food and sheesh that was a lot of work! Seemed like an endless line of people wanting lunch. But I think the rescues, including TEARS which isn't really a rescue but they raise funds for the shelter, raised a good amount of money. And I won one of TEARS raffles! A nice dog gift basket. Lots of goodies, treats, and toys in it.

I also talked to sibe rescue there. I'm glad they went, but thought it was a little strange that they didn't bring any huskies needing adoption! The couple only brought their two huskies.

Yeah for KI! She has a look alike in my small town. This lady was walking her look alike and another dog right by my house. I almost ran outside to talk to them but I knew my crew would go crazy if I did.

Very Happy And Ki is such a sweetheart! She was SUCH a ham at the event. Wanting to say hi to everyone, laying down and rolling over in front of them. She was so cute! She's one awesome dog and I'm sure her new owners will love her.

Oh, and I just got an e-mail from the shelter. They were the ones who put on the event for rescue groups, but they ended up adopting out 9 dogs and 9 cats today too! That's really good for one day!

Sad Ki got returned. They said she was sleeping next to the bed and the wife almost tripped over her. I guess the wife has some medical problems and can really hurt herself if she falls, so they decided to not have a dog. Really wish they could have realized that before adopting her! And my mom found another home interested in her, but they fell through because they adopted another dog they liked that got returned instead. So now Ki is probably going to end up at my mom's house. Hopefully we can find her a home soon! I'm considering fostering her, but I'm already fostering 11 kittens, 7 of which are very small, underweight, and sick. I don't really want to stretch myself out too thin.

Really? They didn't think of this before they got her? That's crappy. I hope you can get her a good home quickly, and if I was in a position to do so I'd consider driving down there and getting her.

Oh here's a great one! My mom just sent me an e-mail:

"Remind me to tell you about the lady that called about Ki.
She wants a fe husky (has to be purebred) because huskies are the only breed that
can see in color and 3-D (especially the blue eyed ones) and have articulated feet and
can be taught to drive. Cars. She has a husky who has a federal drivers' license."

LOL! Oh you get some crazies when you do rescue! I asked her how she kept from laughing at the lady!

Ki, now Cheyenne, found a new home. Let's hope this one sticks! The couple owns a male husky that was returned to the shelter a few times for being a problem dog, but they are now his forever home. Him and Cheyenne seem to get along great! So I think it will be a really good home for her.
