PostSubject: Hey from Tampa Bay   Hey from Tampa Bay EmptyMon Nov 12, 2012 11:02 pm

I've been doing a lot of research on this forum for several weeks now. I think a proper introduction is in order.

So...

What's up everyone?! My name is Adam. I'm 24 year old engineering student who dj's part time on the weekends. I've always wanted a Siberian Husky, but I've never been a position where it made sense. Up until a few months ago, I didn't know much about the breed--I knew they were stunning, have had stories written about them, and were initially bred to pull sleds. Since then, I have been reading as much as possible, and decided that this was the breed for me. I chose a breeder two months ago--the litter my pup is in was born on Nov. 3--so I'm not for sure exactly which one I'll be getting--other than one of the males. I'll be picking him up in early January. Until then, I'm going to continue to gather as much information as possible, so I can be ready. I already made an inquiry about raw diets in the nutrition thread--I'm sure I'll have more questions as the weeks pass. I am SO excited, and my dog (well my girlfriend's dog) Dexter will be stoked to have a playmate.

Here are a few pics from the litter:

Anyway, just wanted to say a little something. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I'm so jealous you're getting a McCracken puppy. I've loved their dogs for years, but I don't like the idea of shipping a puppy. Kellie is great Very Happy

Congrats on your new addition! I love the grey/agouti male Very Happy

Yes, Kellie is awesome! She has provided me with great info and a number of books to consult. It's ironic; I just moved from Indiana to Florida over the summer. I grew up an hour and a half away from them. I'm picking him up over Christmas break when I go back to visit my family for the holidays. It really couldn't have worked out better.

I reserved a puppy from her 2 years ago and backed out of it. I guess we all have our personal preferences. Very cute puppy though, you must be excited and anxious for the pick up date.

After reading a lot about early puppyhood and development, I learned that a breeder can make or break a puppy in those first 8 weeks. I spoke in depth to Kellie about her methods, and I liked her ideology, so it's a good fit for me. You're right though, it's all about personal preference. And I am excited beyond words.

I'm actually trying to get a lock on all the areas I'll need to focus on in the first weeks--nutrition, training, socialization, etc. There are a great number of resources--as well as knowledgeable people on this site. Glad to be a part of it; it makes me feel a lot more comfortable with this new endeavor.
