Hayden is starting to develop this HORRIBLE habit of scratching/digging our doors. Whenever he's ready to come inside or he hears me making his food, he goes NUTS and will dig/scratch our door like a mad dog! We have a really expensive wooden front door that he's putting really bad scratches in and I'm not sure how to make him stop. Any advise??

Not sure what your doing for training so take it with a grain of salt... I yelled and flicked nickels at their feet. But I have a way of using my voice to get almost any result.

I used vocal corrections combined with body blocking to curb door scratching with my dogs. It worked for us each and every time.

We actually used the bells on the insode and outside of the doors. Taught them to paw the bell instead of scratch.

Only downside was that we could only attach the bell to the door with tape, so the outside one gets pulled off sometimes.

Also, if we don't open the door and they've rung the bell a few times, they will still stand up and scratch at the door.

Kale has never clawed, but he did chew some of the molding on the bathroom door off when he got locked in there on accident, it took about 4 mins... Shocked ill have to take a pick of the damage.

Only problem is he only scratches when I'm inside and he's outside alone and as soon as I open the door he bolts in. Guess I'm gonna have to get someone to assist me Smile
Thanks everyone!

Don't open the door enough to let him in. I don't allow bolting in OR out. That can get to be too much with dogs approaching 100 pounds. Best to stop it now in my opinion.
