This is for those of you with cats. I bought the Litter Genie for my cat kinda expecting it to be a waste of money, but I have to say, I think it's saving me money! I am using way less plastic bags since we can go three weeks of filling the litter genie before I have to change it out. AND, it keeps the smell locked in the bin. You can get it as low as $12 on Amazon. I bought it for $20 something at Petsmart before I knew anything about them. I would buy it again if given the choice over.

Edited to add...the three weeks was with two cats. Now that I have one, I expect it to last twice as long.

I'm going to have to try that! I had to move the litter box outside bc no matter how much we cleaned it, it still stunk and I couldn't get the dogs to stay out.

So you think it's worth it? I'll have to go check it out. Thanks for posting!

I definately think it's worth it. With two cats, I was wasting two bags a week. This brought me down to one bag every three weeks. Plus, it's super convient. I would have bought for the convienince alone. I have yet to replace the bag insert and I believe I bought this back in January. I do know there is more than one model so I can only speak for the one I got which is http://www.amazon.com/Litter-Genie-Disposal-System-White/dp/B007IHY5CM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1334426839&sr=8-5

My boys must potty too much! lol. I have the old style one of those and I just hate that the replacement bags cost $9! Mine fill up too quickly. But it really does the job and keeps the room from stinking. But with 7 foster kittens too, I just reuse plastic bags and keep it in a container. With the foster kittens, I can use up the replacement bags in about 1 week! For a single cat household or two cats that don't go like my boys do, it's great.

I could see where more than two cats it probably wouldn't be worth it, but 1-2 it does save time and bags. I can get the replacement bags for $8 and like I said, I have yet to replace the original insert. Now that I have only one cat, I'm thinking an insert will last a minimum of 6 months.
