2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Our 4 month old puppy- Oakley- has a thing for eating socks. About a month ago he swallowed a sock. We tried to use peroxide to get him to vomit the sock up with no luck we had to make a trip to the Tufts Vet ER. They were able to get it out of him. Today he ate a small rag about the size of a sock. Again, another trip to the Vet ER which was successful as well. How can we get him to stop? Maybe spray some sour apple on a few socks and supervise him while they are on the floor? Thanks!

Or make sure that all the socks are out of reach in either a hamper or in a drawer. Having a puppy is like having a child, baby proofing and staying one step ahead is a must. Glad he's ok though! Very Happy

agreed bitter apple works for things like furniture, but it is way easier to tell everyone that socks don't belong on the floor! Both my dogs love socks so I just do a walk through all day lol to be sure there isn't anything on the floor.

We had 2 BIG scares with Kody and socks. Needless to say all socks need to be out of reach at all times. I'm like the sock patrol! Razz Then he swallowed a stuffed toy while we were out of town and that was another huge scare which did end up with a trip to the vet and an IV, etc. You have to baby...I mean puppy (lol) proof the house to avoid these things happening. It's so scary to go through pale

We learned after the first time with the socks...they are no longer an issue...it was an oversight by my father-in-law and he got a hold of a facecloth/rag...a very expensive ($225) oversight...but I appreciate all of your responses

My Blaze is not a puppy but he ate the arm off a small toy it was about 5 inches long and an inch around.. I called my vet about how to get him to throw it up he felt he probably would pass it. Well to make a long story short he threw it up two and half days later.. I had called the vet several times during those days.

Chili did the same thing - silly dog. And he NEVER eats toys! We added olive oil and pumpkin to his food to help it pass, after he threw up some of it. If you see him eat it, give him 1 tsp of hydrogen peroxide per 10 lbs of weight in something totally yummy (pumpkin, watermelon, etc). Comes right back up within about 5 minutes! I carry a bottle in the car, too.
