So seeing everyone talk about adopting I would so love to add more to our family but we just can't right now. but I have been toying with the idea of becoming a foster home for Huskies and not sure if I could let the pup go when it finds a new home. wondering if any one has any experience being foster parents to any dogs. we would not be able to take on more than one dog at a time and not for an extended amout of time. I know most of my questions would be answered by the rescue looking for people to help but I wanted to hear it from someone who has done it before. please share your stories with me and everyone else maybe thinking of fostering dogs, good and bad points as well.

I applied to foster for the husky rescue here, but they wouldn't let me because Lupa's not spayed. However the malamute people are coming tomorrow for my homecheck, everything else has been approved. I am super excited, will let you know more about it if it happens

Edited to say we've been approved There's no on in the rescue that is a good "match" for us at the minute, but they'll call us when they get someone in.

I have fostered a husky before but I won't be able to until my husband comes home...it is very hard to do on my own. It was so hard to give Raiden to someone else, he was so sweet. You will always give your heart to the new dog, you need to in order to help him/her to adapt and be acceptable to a new home. A good tip would be to see if the owners would be comfortable sharing photos and stories. It always makes the heartache worth it knowing that you have made a difference in just one dog's life. I always enjoyed showing Raiden off, these dogs are so beautiful people are awestruck seeing 3 of them on the streets. We put Raiden through classes and introduced him to several new dogs and people and we really didn't have any issues with his behavior... I'm sure that it won't always be a cake walk but my first experience was great.

i'm so bummed cause i have still not heard anything back from them! i get you need help and are low on people to help but if you cant respond to the ones looking to help you are not getting anywhere!!!!! i will send another email when i get back

The rescue groups are frusrating... I did it the hard way, everyone in the local shelter and at all the vet clinics here know my number and if there is a husky in trouble they call me and if I can't do it myself I help them find someone who can... The rescue groups that I contacted said they didn't think I was old enough to foster for them... They do need help and one day maybe they will let me help but until then I am doing what I can. I think since the economy has gotten worse people are giving more dogs up and less people are able to help.

I support rescues whole-heartedly but they very much frustrate me. We were told that we were "too far away" or turned away because we didn't have a fenced in yard even though we already OWNED a happy healthy teenage husky. I was like "Hello?! If I have a teenage husky and want another one, I am obviously committed to this breed!"

But everything happens for a reason and now we have Hailey So all is well

love the new avatar pic koda!!! your pair look great together! i dont think we have any husky rescue's in our area but i havent looked really hard either. i would love to do a rescue or foster program :-) good luck with that!
