Hello everyone, I'm Tom. I just registered after lurking for a bit. I registered as our family just got Jeter a 13 week old Husky/German Shepherd mix! Jeter has been doing great and is so Husky it's not funny. In the short time I've been lurking I've learned SO MUCH that has helped me understand him and keep him out of trouble with the boss (the female unit of our home).

I have some pics of Jeter and will be posting others soon. The ones I have were taken with my iPhone but I plan to use my SLR to get some great ones. Until then, I just wanted to say hi, and introduce ourselves.

Oh yea, I'm currently in Blacksburg but moving to Christiansburg soon. Hopefully there are other Hokies here, and others in SW Va!

Very cool to get my first reply from someone who is from where I grew up. I'm originally from Northern Va also (Fairfax County).

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. It's nice to hear about those of you with/have had mixes. It's amazing that today is one week since we got Jeter.

I've had German Shepherds before but never a Husky. It's so cool to see how much Jeter is like the descriptions I read here. With the move, school starting for our two legged boys and everything else going on getting into a routine has been a challenge. Thankfully Jeter seems to be a great sport and goes with the flow. The only issue so far is when we have to leave him alone for an hour or so. He really doesn't like it when I have to leave. He'll cry for me and go to the door. If "mom" is home he'll eventually hang out at her feet. If we both have to leave he was good the first few times but has really cried in his crate until we return :-(

Otherwise it's been a great learning experience and it's so cool to have a dog that loves us all so much!

Hello from a fellow Hokie!!! Gosh I miss Blacksburg. I'm from northern Virginia (well kind of, northern VA but not "NoVa" as I'm from the Shenandoah National Park area and it's in the middle of fucking nowhere, despite being 1 hour from DC) but now I live in Morgantown, WV. Can't wait to see pictures of your pup!
