Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I just wanted to share that if you are feeding Acana that you may have trouble getting exactly what you want. I went in to my local store to get a 15lb bag of pacifica and they didn't have any. I guess Champion foods had a fire and it is going to affect their production for a couple of months. The owner of my store told me they aren't really publicizing it so you may want to stock up a bit. I was able to get the 30 lb bag so that was fine, but he did tell me that there are some varieties that will not be available for awhile. I am not sure if Orijen is affected or not.

Would explain why I wasn't able to get pacifica. Oh well. She likes ranchlands enough and I've a new bag of grainfree HS that I'm gonna try!

That sucks, but I have to say that I'm relieved this isn't about a recall! I got worried for a second lol

I wondered what was up. Could no longer get 30 pound bags of Wild Prairie from Pet Flow. I switched to Earthborn Holistic Primitive Natural and all the dogs are doing well on it. It is 12 dollars cheaper per bag and is rated 5 stars. Also made in USA which is becoming more important to me these days. Really torn though because I really like Acana. Switched to Earthborn cat food also from Blue Buffalo and the difference is remarkable. Cats are gaining weight and their coats are thicker and softer. They get both canned and dry. The canned is awesome. Looks like human grade fish.

I believe the shortage is just temporary. The fire was in Kitchen 1 and they weren't using Kitchen 2 so now they've just got to get that one in a usable condition so they can restart production. They're switching schedules around so no one is losing their job because of the accident. And I do believe some time has passed since the fire so you should be seeing the food return to the shelves soon.

Yup my usual place didnt have ANY orijen today and my alternative place sold me their last bag of regional red. Pet food guy told me word is dryer 1 will be back up and running by Nov. Hmmm maybe its worth running across town to the other place and snatching up another bag.....
