Runaway Coby! Empty
PostSubject: Runaway Coby!   Runaway Coby! EmptySun Sep 16, 2012 10:33 am

Ok so Coby got out of our house today..My son had accidently left our front door open slightly without us realising (hes only 2). Well as any husky would he bolted!

Weve only had him a couple of weeks and were so worried as to where he had gone. My partner ran straight out in the car to go and find him and i stood helplessly on our street with a treat in my hand just in case he came back round.

My partner eventually found him on a field just around the corner from our house, being fussed by a group of kids. He went and grabbed his collar to take him to the car to bring him home but when walking towards the car Coby went mad and tried to bite my partner.

Would this be because he enjoyed the freedom he had from getting out?

Well he is home safe and sound now, we were very lucky he wasnt taken/runover or just kept running other wise we would of never got him home Sad

Was he aggressively biting or was it because he was hyped up and playing(which is not good either)

I'm so glad you got him back!!

Some dogs don't like having their collars grabbed/held, so it could have been that, or just that he didn't like losing his freedom. He didn't actually bite, by the sounds of it? An air snap is just a way of showing displeasure at something. And huskies do know how to have tantrums when they don't get their own way Wink

If he didn't contact skin, it was a warning, he probably didn't like the way his collar was grabbed.

So glad you got him back!

A lot of dogs don't like their collars grabbed, and since you guys are still "new" to him he was probably either scared or surprised..

Jennet is right, when I got cali and Mika, both of my girls had a flashback to bad times and would go crazy if you grabbed the collar, gladly we are over that and it doesn't happen anymore.

He might have been freaked out too. In a new place with his people not there. He might have snapped just cause he was afraid.

Thanks alot everyone. Coby was very funny about people grabbing his collar but over this last week we've had no trouble. So maybe he thought my partner was going to hurt him like a past time. Thank you to you all. I just wanted to chat about it, its scary knowing your beloved dog might not come back. Another scary thought was that Mia could of gone too, she followed him to the front door but didn't follow him out through the door.
Just want to make people more aware, I know people who have huskies and let them off the lead, I think if it wasn't for the kids on the field fussing coby he would of just kept running!
