| Hello everyone ! My name is Motaz and I ran across this website when I was trying to search on how to train my dog. I was extremely pulled by the picture and website name "Its a Husky Thing". I'm so glad to be meeting all of you, and hopefully I will be a contributing member of this lovely community. I am from Saudi Arabia, a country full of sand and heat, but I was able to find a husky though. I bought my husky when he was about 6 months old and now he's a year and a few months old. These are pictures of him: His name is Shojo, we named him that based on a Chinese city because it was said that he came from China. True or not, I don't know. We were also told he is actually half husky half German Shepard, but I'm no dog expert so I also don't know. But he doesn't exhibit the intelligence or obedience of a German Shepard (from what I read). I love my husky and I go jogging with him but the whole family and I are finding a very hard time in making him obedient. He barely listens But we don't need to get into that now, I will be posting that in the "training" section I think. For now I just want to say hello and introduce my dog. GoodBye PS. that's really lovely dog Axel and Christina, Congrats ! |

| Welcome! Shojo is a cutie! I am getting a puppy soon so I'm not an expert but everything that I've read so far is that huskies are very clever dogs and get bored easily and many people mistake that for "stupidity" rather than what it really is, they just get bored and move on quickly! Tips that I've read are to try training in small doses, but consistently. That way your pup doesn't get bored with what you're trying to teach him too easily (which will probably happen anyway, but you can at least keep it from happening so much). Anyway, hope this helps and anyone else that disagrees from experience or wants to shed some more light on the subject please be my guest. Just trying to relay information that I've researched! Anyway welcome! |

This is actually very helpful. I did do some readings before and learned that Huskies are very clever, I just never made the connection that they learn easily and get bored quickly. My sister loves him but she always calles him stupid lol. - Quote :

I am a firm believer in small doses or baby-steps Thank you ! |
