So the skin is peeling on the pads of Anna's back legs. Has anyone seen this before? They don't seem to be causing her any discomfort just this big piece of skin hanging off. One pad looks like the skin already fell off but not on the other.

Ezio did that to himself once when he ran too hard in a tennis court and slid. Just looks like she might have been on warm pavement and blistered, or slipped and scraped herself up. I would just try to walk her in the grass if you take her out and keep checking on it to make sure it's getting better.

Yeah I figured it was from pavement, we don't have much grass and most of it is infested with dog poo. (we live in an apartment) Should I like clip that piece of skin off? I don't want her to rip it off accidentally.

If it all feels dead I might try to clip a chunk of it off just so she doesn't pull it and make it worse, but don't try to get it all off or you might clip too close to her skin and hurt her. And puppy paws aren't a place you want her afraid for you to touch (would make clipping her nails hard)!

Anna is great when it comes to nail clipping! We worked on that one early! Thanks for your help! Just wanted to make sure I was thinking that it was just the occasional pavement walking to get away from some unfriendly dogs.

I agree with what everyone else said...puppy pads aren't callused like an older dogs so it would be very likely a result of running on the pavement. Poor girl, I would trim it off but be careful when you do...something like toenail clippers would be the safest, i use them to cut the skin from blisters on my feet from wearing flip flops in the summer lol Smile

People Toenail clippers is what i mean of course Smile

Well we don't run on pavement but when we are trying to avoid people pavement is our only option and I'm assuming from her trying to plant her feet and run towards them she managed to pull up the skin. But I clipped it so it shouldn't bother her and it doesn't seem to bother her anyways so I am not too too concerned. But I am a very big worry wart anyways when it comes to Anna. Shocked People toenail clippers worked awesome! Thanks guys!

Try using Mushers Secret on it. Specifically made for sled dog paws it keeps paws protected and even aids in the healing process.
