1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Hi Everyone! My name is Dan and this is my dog Tesla. He's two now and I've had him since he was 8 weeks, but I still consider myself fairly new to the breed. Having grown up with Labs, the transition to a Husky has had some bumps along the way but has been an extremely positive experience on the whole. Anyway, I'm here to share my experiences and learn from those wiser than myself (which is probably everyone here).

Thanks! I'm living in Boulder as of 5 months ago (my girlfriend is doing her Ph.D. at CU, and moving to Colorado isn't exactly tough to sell me on). Before that we were in Connecticut for 2 years for her Masters, and Chicago prior to CT.

That photo was taken at Brainard Lake in mid August, and is one of the rare times Tesla actually wanted to play fetch. I think he was trying to show how big and strong in was in the face of competition from my parents dog.

we will be in that area a lot this winter hiking/snowshoeing as we try to stay away from I-70 and ski traffic.

I'm in CO too, but I'm in the Springs! Bleck! I love Boulder, if we ever decided to move back here after we're done with the Army that's where we'd like to live.

Hope we can see you at a meet up! You should try going Saturday Smile

Making it up one is on my short-list of hikes, but first I have to get past the point where I'm sucking wind at the top of each staircase Smile The hike from there up to Lake Victoria and back had me Done For The Day. The transition from sea level to 5000 feet hasn't been kind on my hiking endurance.

Oh cool. I heard about the H2M2 from someone I met at Valmont a few days ago. Can't remember her name, but she has a copper colored female about a year old and works at a children's theater in Boulder. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make it this weekend. I have a prior engangement with some folks in town who are trying to put together a scootering group for the spitz-inclined (although they can be flaky from time to time, so maybe they'll cancel). Next time, though, and I'm always up for a good hike or snowshoe.

I've never been down to Colorado Springs, but from what I've heard it sounds like it'd be a drag if you like the Boulder atmosphere. I quite enjoy living here, myself. Definitely a positive change from central Connecticut.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone.

We were living between Middletown and Durham, but I worked down in Guilford. Very nice place to live, but I had a really hard time fitting in. The culture in that area is just so different from my rural midwestern farmland upbrining that I usually felt like that awkward guy.

Jeez, more people from Colorado! Razz

Welcome, that picture of Tesla is awesome and I just love the name! I don't blame you for liking Colorado over Chicago either, I grew up a little ways south of there Smile

Welcome to the forum!

I grew up in Monroe, CT and went to high school in Milford. I had a couple of friends who lived in Guilford. Many friends and family still back there-- my best friend is in East Windsor.

I'm sure you'll fit in well here with the CO Contingent.... they seem to be everywhere these days Razz
