I have been reading a lot of your posts on here, in preparation for my new baby! Your advice on how to find a good breeder and even how to choose a puppy has been the most helpful on the web!! So THANK YOU! I can't wait to be part of this siberian husky loving family! -Yaqui |

| Yuki and Cloud are so cute!! How is it going with two puppies? I considered getting two...but I'm not sure if it's a good idea! There are some litter-mates still available, I work from home and would have lots of time for them and at the same time I want to do what's best for the puppies! What do you all think? |

| It is definitely helpful to wait. Cloud already knew basic commands and was 6 months old when I got Yuki, He was a really good role model for her, BUT he was still a puppy. When I got Cloud, he never destroyed anything. When I brought Yuki home, she started destroying and he started destroying things WITH her. Two get into more trouble than one. The main thing you have to watch out for with two puppies is that they spend plenty of time individually with them, otherwise they get more attached to each other than to you. Usually I'll send one off to the groomer or daycare and spend the day alone with the other, Cloud adores walking at the metro park with just me and him, and I'm really able to progress on Yuki's training one-on-one. But the pros of having two puppies is so worth it. They're able to have eachother - Yuki was so relaxed the day I brought her home from the breeder because there was another dog with her. Cloud and her play all the time, and when I go to work I know one won't be alone. Yes - its definitely hard work having two puppies, but no - I don't regret one day of it. </rambling> XD |

| Personally I'd never get two puppies at the same time. You'd be better off training your new boy, getting him off on the right food, housebroken, crate trained, everything, and then if you feel you're ready, introducing a second to your house. Also littermates tend to get very attached, and from the stories I've read, it's hard to seperate them and have alone time with one and not the other.
In my home, Embry and Zoey are a little over a year apart, and then Zoey and Ares are also a bit over a year apart. It was perfect for us. By the time Embry was completely trained, we got Zoey. We trained Zoey, and then we introduced them to Ares. It was a lot easier by the time we got to Ares because he learned from the two older dogs and made housebreaking and crate training SO MUCH easier on us. One thing though, Embry is the only dog that was ever an "only dog". He is the only one who can be separated from the other two and be totally calm, so I don't think it's just litter mates that have that issue. I took Ares out for the first time by himself to the Dog Daycare I work at, and he was so scared and submissive without his two older siblings.

| Thank you all so much for the advice! I've had dogs all my life, and a year and half ago I moved to Dallas and haven't had any!! So I feel so eager to have a home full of loving dogs...but I think you're right in that adding puppies too soon could also be hard on them and me. and Rocio thanks, I think he's a cutie, I hope to share more pictures as he grows up on here with you all! I'm so thankful for this forum, I've learned so much about Huskies on here!! |

| We have two pups (only two weeks between them in age) and I wouldn't reccomend it! Yes there are pros as mentioned, but overall the sheer amount of frustration we felt the first 2/3 weeks wasn't worth it...We're slowly getting better as a foursome, but we're (my husband and I) are adamant we will never get another puppy again! |

I'm not sure what his coat will be turn out to be, it's been changing quite a bit, I love that it changes, he has some red tones in there...it's going to be fun watching him grow! |

I know I can't wait to see your puppy grow too! I have been doing quite a lot of research and it seems like raw is the absolute best! I myself am vegan and not too sure if I want to deal with raw animal parts, but I do understand that it's the best for him and so I might give that a go! But honestly I don't know if I'm brave enough... How about you? Do you have any thoughts on food? |
