Hello, i noticed our 12 week husky has been scratching a lot. We looked in her fur and found bugs, not sure if they're ticks or fleas. Unfortunately our car is in the shop and we have problems getting to the vet. I was just curious if the Hartz Ultra Guard Plus Flea and tick remover for dogs and puppies will be okay to use on our husky? does anyone know?

You don't want to use that nasty stuff. It's got all kinds of pesticides in it that could harm or even kill your pup. A quick search on the internet will tell you everything you need to know about that stuff. Your better off using something like Advantage, Frontline, or Triflexis. Some of which can be obtained at the pet store. Do a search on the forum, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info on the flea products everyone uses. There are even oils that can help out.

I personally would not use it.
If getting to a vet or store is out of the question right now then make sure to bathe her thoroughly with dish washing liquid (I recommend Dawn if you have it.)
Be sure to wash her well, then as you are drying her try to pick off any fleas you see and kill them.
It wouldn't hurt to repeat this daily until you are able to get some sort of flea medicine for her.
Also be sure to wash and dry all of her bedding and vacuum/mop all floors.

Hartz is definitely never worth the risks.

We use Revolution for Dogs around here. I think a vet has to prescribe it, but it's our favorite.

I won't even touch the dogs with Hartz brand shampoo. I've read the horror stories.

You can always steep thin sliced lemons and rosemary overnight, strain the liquid into a sspray bottle and liberally brush that into his coat and skin.

Fleas are small, flat bugs that live on the skin and often run around. They also jump huge distances. Ticks are 8 legged, larger, and embed in the skin when they feed, so they won't be moving around. If I had to guess, I'd say that you're probably having flea issues.

Wash your pup with Dawn, like someone said. Definitely don't use Hartz!! Anything and everything made by Hartz is untrustworthy and has killed many dogs and cats. Once you can get to the vet, they should have something that will work. Trifexis/Comfortis are great for fleas. Frontline or Revolution work for both fleas and ticks.
