Husky ignoring commands... Empty
PostSubject: Husky ignoring commands...   Husky ignoring commands... EmptyFri Dec 21, 2012 4:04 pm

So my puppy is 14 weeks now and she's been a pretty fast learner with her basic commands and house rules. However, she only listens to me Rolling Eyes . Its just me and my husband and when i give a command she will follow through without issue but when my husband tries, she just ignores him. lol...its actually a little funny to me but for obvious reasons it makes him mad. Any thoughts on why our pup wont listen to him?

to give some insight- my theory is that I'm the one who's trained her since we got her at 7 weeks old so my guess is if he spent more time training, she would listen. Any more experienced dog owners have a theory so we can fix this? I want her to listen to both of us.

It's important for him to spend some time training her too. He can't just expect to tell her sit or off every once in a while if she's never been given a reason to listen to him.

I trained (am training...) Pippa and she won't do a thing my dad says because he just pets her occasionally and then tries to give her a command. It doesn't work.

I would think if he spends some one-on-one time with her, she'll start to listen to him too.

Lucian did the same thing with my husband, flat out ignored him. I had him do some training with him, and now he listens to him and myself. When he feels like it of course, lol.

Okay, that's what i thought was the issue too but in my limited puppy experience, i figured its better to ask some more experienced folks Smile . For as much as my husband likes the dog, he's been very hands-off so i think i will try to explain to him what you guys are saying. Hopefully some husband-husky training time together will = much less frustration for him.

lol- right now i think he's convinced that the dog only likes me since she only listens to me. I tried to tell him that she just likes the piece of cheese i have in my hand when i say "Come" hahaha
