Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I guess the star of this introduction is Aurora. She is a bundle of energy who loves to walk or jog. Her favorite winter sport is running on top of the snow banks. She always has a new story to tell me everyday when I come home from work. She is 4 years old now, and is very gentile with our older dog. Like most huskies, she does not bark but rather talks to you in long stories. She is full of energy and loves being with us be it curled up on the couch, or on the swing in the backyard. She thinks the door to the outside should be revolving, even when it is freezing cold outside, and she loves her daily walks no matter what the weather is, she thinks anyone who comes to visit or walks by the house has come to see her and she always enjoys their attention, even if she has to stand up on her hind legs and hug them to get it. Aurora is my first lighter coloured husky with a mix of red and grey parents making her coat change in colour depending on the time of year. She looks more red in the winter when the sun is less, and more gray in the summer as you can see in some of the photos.

The older dog in the photo is still with us, he is a Norwegian Elkhound named Darius. He will be 16 years old this month. For those who have had dogs live into their old age, you will know what that is like. For those who are unfamiliar with Elkhounds let me say that they are a great compliment to Huskies, especially when you are hiking or camping in mountains and such with lots of wildlife. As friendly as Huskies are, a bark or two from the Elkhound will keep all wildlife at bay, no more elk, moose or bear getting too close to the Huskies.

Being in the military we have have lived in many different environments. From the freezing cold of -45 C (not much difference between Celsius and Ferinheight at that cold a temperature), to the warmer winter of Europe and back again. Our family, including the fury ones move with us and travel with us. We have had the pleasure of owning a few huskies over the years.
