Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Panzer has been riding around town with me, lately, as my full-time companion. She's been stressed by the craziness with the room mates (I have been too) so I thought it'd be best if I started bringing her out in the big scary world with me, so she could learn there was nothing to be afraid of.

She's been subjected to dog parks, new dogs of all sizes, crowds of people, bars, restaurants, pet stores, friends houses, new walks, down time in the car, being tied out while I worked, wearing a bakpack, tons of people trying to treat her, and more lovings than she could shake a stick at.

Its been doing wonders for her. She doesn't pace constantly, she takes treats from strangers, she walks calmly past people, and allows them to touch her. She has been playing with a bunch of different dogs..

Every once in a while she stresses out around crowds, and I have to remove her and chill with her, but she is getting better.

As for coming inside, she usually comes in first call now, but when she doesn't, I shut the door and come back a half hour later, and she always is ready to come in. Its gone from a fearful scurry in, to a quick smell to be safe and a trot rigght in, too.

I'm so proud of Panzer dog. She's starting to understand that she, in fact, is going to be okay with me.

That's awesome! So you dove right into bringing her around lots of people? No primer?

Her only primer has been 4 months of living with my other 5 dogs, and meeting people who came over. Otherwise, yeah, I just tossed her in the water and figured she'd swim one way or another. Luckily, my life doesn't take me many places that dogs aren't allowed and understood.
